Girlfriend- Avril Lavigne
"hey, hey, you, you I don't like your girlfriend
no way, no way, I think you need a new one
hey, hey, you, you I can be your girlfriend"
"hey, hey, you, you I don't like your girlfriend
no way, no way, I think you need a new one

I want to be your boyfriend- The Rubinoos
"hey you, I wanna be your boyfriend
trying to say I wanna be your number one
hey you, I wanna be your boyfriend
gonna make you love me before I'm done"
Copyright is one of the worst things a singer or any celebrity can do. It can ruin your whole image and makes you look bad taking something that belongs to someone else and taking all the credit for it. Also it is illegal which can cause someone to put a lawsuit against you.
The Rubinoos with their song "I want to be your boyfriend" and Avirl Lavigne and her song "Girlfriend" had a controversy with copyright. The founder of the Rubinoos said they thought the two songs were very similar. Avril had said to this that she has never heard of that song or even the band! In my opinion I don't think the two songs are similar at all, the only thing they have in common are they are both singing about the same thing. Avirl is singing about telling a guy that he needs a new girlfriend and that she can be his girlfriend. When the Rubinoos are singing about wanting to be a boyfriend to one of his friends. The chorus of both songs do sound similar with the same type of tempo and beat but I don't think this was done on purpose or copied. Also the Rubinoos had their song way before Avril was even a celebrity I don't think that she would need to copy someone else's songs to make herself successful. Also if Avril is telling the truth when she says she has never even heard of the Rubinoos I think she is telling the truth because she has had many other sucessful songs that were her own ideas. I really don't think this controversy would affect her image because even if she is guilty or innocent she still had a song that was very popular which had the most views for its video about 127 million views. Also she has many other songs that are still to her benefit and people listen to.
